As I've mentioned, there were a couple people that didn't do the basic requirements for the contest, but they did some of the advanced optional tasks. To be fair to everyone I didn't allow those entries in the contest but I emailed each of those people letting them know that I will give them a little extra time. Well...their time is up. It's time to get this show on the road. I apologize if you were one of the ones that missed out.
I added all the entries to an Excel spreadsheet. Each participant was given a cell in the spreadsheet for every entry that they had. For example, Big Blogger was given 605 cells, Barbara Baker was given 236 cells, etc.
I then ran a randomizer function on the spreadsheet to shuffle the entries. The way it works is it randomly grabs a name from column A and copies it to column B. It does that for every cell in column A making sure that every name was grabbed.
A snippet of the end result is shown in the image in this post. If you would like to see the actual spreadsheet you can click here to download it. It will only be available for a short time then I'm going to delete it.
There were a total of 2009 entries. What I'm going to do now is use http://www.random.org/integers/ and have it generate a random integer between 1 and 2009. Whatever the result is, I will match it with the spreadsheet and select a winner.
After the 1st place winner is chosen, I will randomly pick another integer until I pick a name that is different than the 1st.
Stay tuned. Won't be much longer! Do you have butterflies?
