Zend Optimizer Error for Syndicate Kahuna on GoDaddy

If you are on a GoDaddy server and are trying to use Syndicate Kahuna and you get a Zend Optimizer error when you try to add your site to the SK interface then read on for the fix.

Normally SK works fine on GoDaddy as long as you upload the sk-article file in binary mode. But if you get an error saying that Zend Optimizer isn’t installed it’s like because you are using php version 5.

I ran into this problem tonight. Although I have other sites that use Syndicate Kahuna within the same hosting package and they work fine, for one of my sites it didn’t and the only real difference is that I enabled php 5 for that particular site. In case you didn’t know, to enable php5 on GoDaddy you just have to add this line to the top of your .htaccess file: AddHandler x-httpd-php5 .php

Here’s how I fixed it to get SK working…

1) Create a free account at Zend.com
2) Download Zend Optimizer for Linux x86 (32 Bit)
3) Unzip the Zend package and find the file: /data/5_2_x_comp/ZendOptimizer.so
4) Upload that file to your blog to a folder called “zend”
5) Create a file called php5.ini with the following text…

[Zend]
zend_optimizer.optimization_level=15
zend_extension=zend/ZendOptimizer.so
zend_extension_ts=zend/TS/ZendOptimizer.so

6) Upload the php5.ini file to the root

That should do it.

What I’ve Been Up To – Syndicate Kahuna

As some of you already know, the majority of my content lately has come from Syndicate Kahuna. Not as many posts in a day as I had originally planned since I didn’t put it on auto-pilot for this blog. The posts that come in aren’t automatically published. I chose to do it that way to give me a chance to give the post a quick scan before letting it go live.

I’m a fan of Syndicate Kahuna for the most part. The way it works is, people pay to submit their content to… I think it’s Traffic Kahuna…then that content is distributed to the Syndicate Kahuna folks like myself. The giving content part has a price tag. The receiving content part is free.

I have one major issue with Syndicate Kahuna at this point. Syndicate Kahuna staff need to proof read the posts before letting them go live! I’ve had posts with plenty of spelling mistakes, even in the title! I’ve had posts with half sentences! I’ve had posts with the main keyword as the anchor text just dropped in the middle of the post where it didn’t even make any sense to be there.

With that said…I have some niche blogs on auto-pilot being syndicated with Syndicate Kahuna. They are earning a bit of AdSense revenue and some earnings from CPA offers have also been made…in a very short time I might add.
