Pay Per Play advertising has started on some sites (and social network profiles), while others are still patiently waiting. Charles Heflin and Voice2Page NetAudioAds are rolling things out slowly to avoid any major hiccups. I believe they said that all sites will have ads playing by the end of the month. If you haven't heard of PayPerPlay, it's a monetizing strategy for your web site where you will get paid for every single visitor that comes. A 5 second audio ad will play on your site or profile when a new visitor arrives and you'll get some cash for it. If that person surfs to another page on your site that has the code installed, or if they refresh the page they are on 3 or more minutes after the first ad played, they will hear another 5 second audio ad, earning you some more money. You will get paid on three levels if you signup early and become what they call a "core" partner. After they decide to stop allowing anymore core partners you will still be paid for your own ad plays, just not for those of the people that you refer to the program.

You will receive 25% commissions for the ads that play on your site if you signup. If you get in before they stop accepting core partners you can build a downline 2 more levels deep. You will earn 5% for the ad plays of the people that you refer, and 5% for the ad plays of your referral's referrals.

Like Google AdSense, the ads are geared toward the content of your web site. As their FAQ's state, you will not hear a lingerie ad on a fishing site and vice versa. However, you can opt in (or out) for political ads for any party that you support. You can also block certain ads from playing on your site by entering some keywords.

These ads don't really belong on all types of sites but they are a good solution for others. They are a great solution to earn some extra income from your social networking profiles, like MySpace, if it's allowed. They state that lots of research has been done and for the most part people are OK with hearing these ads. It's up to you if you feel they may provide value to your site's visitors. If you have any auto-blogs going that you are trying to make money through Google AdSense, that would be one type of site that you could benefit from PPP ads. Drop the code in the footer of your theme so that it runs on every page of the blog. Avoid just including it on any and every site you run or have access to. If it's a blog and you have open communication with your visitors, ask them first and see how they feel. Install the code on one page, direct them to it, and ask them what they think.

I signed up in time to be a core partner and as of now the option is still available. Sure, it's still potentially valuable even if you lose out on the opportunity to build a downline but if the opportunity is there still, take it. Maybe you won't heavily promote to create your downline, but you could even simply create a small link on the bottom of the sites that you run ads on saying something like "audio ads courtesy of pay-per-play audio". That sentence pretty much sums up what it's for and may get a click here and there.
