Tell Me About A Product You Like And I’ll Pay You Cash!

My friend Jarret told me about a cool new web 2.0 property that pays you money for adding product descriptions to their web site. It’s called Wigix. It stands for Want It Got It eXchange.

Wigix offers a simple alternative to eBay with waaay less fees. And they offer plenty of ways to earn money from the site even if you don’t have a product for sale…and it costs you nothing! Consider this scenario…

Savvy Marketer A has plenty of knowledge about Power Supplies for computers. He heads over to Wigix, becomes a category expert (CE) for PC Power Supplies.

Savvy Marketer B heads over to Wigix to share some knowledge about her favourite power supplies for computers. She peeks in the Power Supply category and see that the XYZ Power Supply isn’t listed on the site. She enters the info about XYZ Power Supply into the Wigix database. She didn’t know all of the specs so she copied some of the missing bits of info from Tiger Direct’s site (because they carry that particular product).

Power Supply Guy wants to sell one or more of his XYZ Power Supplies. He hears that Wigix offers a platform for selling products and doesn’t rake you over the coals with insertion fees and transaction fees. He heads over to add his products. He could have added all the specs himself but luckily for him Savvy Marketer B entered all the data which saves him a bunch of data entry. In a couple of clicks he is able to add his Power Supplies for sale on Wigix.

Consumer A Google’s ‘XYZ Power Supply’ and finds the listing on Wigix. Since Wigix is a hot web 2.0 site Google rankings are often easily achieved. Consumer A buys the Power Supply from Power Supply Guy.

Who benefits monetarily? Wigix, Savvy Marketer A, Savvy Marketer B and Power Supply Guy. You see…since Savvy Marketer A runs the category he is able to get a slice of the fees that are paid to Wigix from anyone selling products in that category! And since Savvy Marketer B added the valuable unique product listing content to Wigix she gets a slice of the fees for anyone that sells that particular product on Wigix. Brilliant! Social shopping at it’s best.

Since the site is just getting off it’s feet for the most part, there is still plenty of very popular product spots that you can stake your claim with. Get in early and when consumers start to flock in droves to purchase products you will be sitting back reaping the rewards.
