I made a post "What Is It With John Chow That Makes People Want To Spend Money" late last night about the effect that the review from JohnChow.com had on TheSocialMillionaire.com.
So... John and The Social Millionaire dude came to see what I had to say...

They never left a comment though so maybe they didn't like what I had to say. Perhaps they'll dedicate a blog post to me, we'll see.
I headed over to John's blog today and in his post "Miscellaneous Ramblings - 3/15/2008" (posted today) discusses The John Chow Effect. I haven't been reading John's blog long enough to here mention of that before. It struck me as kind of funny at first, but it's a real thing. Check out the post to see what I mean. When I discussed the apparent "John Chow Effect" regarding The Social Millionaire I didn't take into account Alexa Rankings at all, or traffic. I was merely looking at the earnings that shot up over night. Sure, being mentioned on JohnChow.com and the size of his readership you can expect to see spikes in traffic and possibly new subscribers, but seeing an increase in the loot like The Social Millionaire you can quickly see if you have a winner. His missing factor was the traffic. John creating a hyperlink to "buy keywords" set that ball in motion.
A little John Chow effect of my own...
So, I didn't get a mention on his blog after I apparently gave him the idea to discuss the John Chow Effect on The Social Millionaire in his recent post
but I have been seeing some traffic from JohnChow.com by posting some comments on his blog and writing posts here that link to his posts. In fact, JohnChow.com is in my top 10 traffic sources. But getting a direct mention in a post will do me some good. I know this blog is just seen by many as "yet another make money online" blog but I'll change that mindset around. I am not trying to take advantage of "opportunity seekers" and feed false information to people in order to make money (as people have been suggesting in the emails I've been getting). My intentions are to show people exactly what I have done that has generated me some cash online. I fill in the education gaps where I can, or at least I try to. I'm not a motivational speaker or a "super" affiliate but I have a lot to say, and can mostly help in the technical areas that people often struggle with. I may never be as big as JohnChow.com but I'll ride the coat tails when I can. Thanks John for being a pioneer in this. OK, enough ass kissing

I liked what I saw this morning in regards to your previous post that is why I put a link on my website under the press tab.
I think if you want to get a direct mention on his blog you need to pay the $500 though
It worked for me! Good luck with your website.

haha, yeah I know. I won’t spend the $500 for this site though, but there is a programming project I’m working on and the first $500 for advertising will definitely be spent on a John Chow review if possible.
Thanks for the mention in your press section. Awesome site..I’m tracking the traffic and if I get a sale as a result I will do another write up.
