Make Money Online

EDIT: My decision to write this post came when I was checking the reporting for all of my affiliate programs which I do on occasion. I realized that since I didn't give Pay Per Play a fair shake I would try it on this blog and of course write this post to let you know what I was doing.

After posting, I took a few minutes to search and see what other people thought of PPP (I know...I should have done that first). It was not well received at all! I don't always believe everything that I read but it rang true to the negative experiences that I had with it.

So...I'm officially done with PPP. Sorry to waste your time with this post. [END EDIT]

I decided to add the code for Pay Per Play audio ads just to try it out. I'm not extremely hopeful about it but it's worth a shot. And yeah, that link is my referral link. If it does turn out to be awesome I'd like to get credit for the referral. :) And besides, it doesn't cost anything.

It's kinda like AdSense where the ads are contextual but it's flexible enough where you can filter the ads. You can tell it to play ads that belong to a certain set of keywords or you can stop ads from playing that belong to a certain set of keywords. The ads only play every 3 minutes unless you turn that feature off. They changed it recently so that it will allow ads to ask your visitor to press a certain key on the keyboard and it will browse to their site. You can turn that off though.

So, if you hear it and it startles you I apologize. If it annoys anyone let me know and I'll get rid of it. I tried it on some low traffic sites but didn't make too much. I heard an ad play on one of my own sites but I had forgotten that I put the ad script on it. It scared the crap out of me. The ad was advertising for itself which kind of bugged me. Also, I didn't even earn anything from it according to the stats and it's supposed to be Pay Per Play. I haven't kept up with the Pay Per Play blog posts or the newsletters so I don't know what the deal is, maybe something changed. I also saw in the stats for one really low traffic site that I have that out of 5 "paid" ad plays there was only 1 cent earned! That's ridiculous. Firs of all, I was lead to believe that they ALL would be paid ads and that they would be worth more than a penny.

Call me crazy but I'm giving it one last try. I'll run them on here for a couple weeks and if I don't see any promise I'm going to bail. Or of course if it annoys everyone I'll yank it. I know I should bring my concerns up with them but I've tried dealing with the guy who's running it before. He just seems to redirect a lot and not address the problem. However, the idea of Pay Per Play still seems really cool to me and I have a tough time letting it go before giving it a fair chance.

So this isn't a recommendation but still a referral because it's free. Try Pay Per Play Audio Ads now. I'm curious, has anyone heard of it or heard any ads play on any sites or use it to monetize their sites? And if you haven't, let me know if you plan to try it and keep me updated on your experience with it. I know I didn't paint a great picture of it but I don't have enough experience with it to be conclusive. I did write a post about it before because I was so excited about the idea of it. Now I'll actually pay more attention to it rather than a set and forget kind of thing. Your feedback is appreciated.
