Create Unique MTV-Style Videos
written by Keith James LockCreate Unique Videos Everytime
With the web application at Animoto.com you can quickly and easily create MTV-style videos that are unique everytime. You specify the photos that you want used in the video and the background music and Animoto does the rest. Run it a second time and another video, unique from the first, gets created.
Adding Images
You have the option of uploading images from your computer or using the direct image retrieval function to get images from Flickr, Facebook, Smugmug, Picasa, or Photobucket. You can place special emphasis on certain images with the spotlight feature. You can also add images with text on them, perhaps including a domain name that you want the viewer to visit.
Adding Music
You can upload your own music (or open source music) or simply use one of the songs included in Animoto's music library.
Sharing The Videos
It's easy to share your video with just a couple of clicks to sites like MySpace, Facebook, and Friendster. Embed codes are also generated to embed the videos elsewhere, plus there is an option for emailing the videos that you create. You may also export your video to a format that you can easily upload to YouTube.
Use this handy Firefox extension from VodPod to easily add videos from Animoto (or most any other video site) into your Wordpress blog posts.
Animoto Shorts and Full Length Videos
Animoto Shorts are 30-seconds in length and free for everyone. You can produce, remix, and share as many as you'd like. Full-length videos are extended in length and can be downloaded. The length of a video is determined by the number of images and the music it uses. Full-length videos require a paid all-access-pass or video credits.
Animoto has recently added the ability to create DVD quality videos and they also have a commercial video package available. Animoto has committed to a complimentary All-Access-Package to the winner of my recent contest.
Here is an Animoto Short that I created back in February when I first heard of Animoto. I have since deleted the domain (DOH!) used in the video when I was "trimming the fat" and trying to stay focused. (I get domain purchase happy on occasion.)
There are much better examples on the Animoto site but this gives you an idea.
